Big Sean is hitting the road with Playboi Carti, Shy Glizzy, and GASHI, but he’s going to be switching things up a bit. The setlists for all the dates on his “Unfriendly Reminder” tour will be different everyday and it’ll all be determined by his fans!
The system Big Sean’s management created is fairly simple. Fans can head over to his website, choose the tour date they have tickets to, and tick any song from his extensive discography. For the three months following, the rapper will perform the top 20 songs as curated by the fans from each city. This includes literally all his features and freestyles with the likes of Coldplay, Drake, and Justin Bieber to name a few.
A Decade of Big Sean
We’ve seen Big Sean hard at work over the last 10 years. He currently has four studio albums under G.O.O.D. Music: “Finally Famous” released in 2011, “Hall of Fame” in 2013, “Dark Sky Paradise” in 2015, and most recently “I Decided.” just last year. This falls on top of four mixtapes and two collaborative albums with Metro Boomin and girlfriend Jhené Aiko.
Sean’s fifth headlining tour is a tribute to his decade with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label. Sean first met West when he was doing a radio interview in his hometown of Detroit. As Sean already had a close relationship with the station, he was granted access. West was initially unenthusiastic to hear him but decided to give Sean 16 bars to rap over. The vet enjoyed it and left the station with Sean’s demo tape, and West finally signed him two ears later.
This isn’t the first time an artist has pulled this move. British metalcore band Architect, Metalllica, Franz Ferdinand, and even (dare we say it) the Chainsmokers have all granted this privilege to their fans over the years. Granted Big Sean’s “I Don’t Fuck With You” will be the most consistent song on the tour setlist.
