It’s that time of the year again when Tamaraws gather and celebrate the founding anniversary of their beloved alma mater, Far Eastern University (FEU). Now in it’s 90th year, FEU Quadrangle shone in green and gold as 12,000 Tamaraws sang their hearts out, danced and partied along with the country’s hottest artists and performers.
One Concierto Piyu, presented by FEU Central Student Organization in partnership with the FEU Student Development, FEU Communication Society and co-presented by AfterParty united FEU Manila, FEU Tech, FEU Makati, and FEU Highschool (Manila) students for a night full of music, fun and an experience that the green and gold Tamaraws will never forget.
Party The Tamaraw Way
It’s true, no one parties as hard as the Tamaraws so everyone, including the artists had a great time.
The boys of IV Of Spades started the party with their 80’s outfit and disco attitude, and man, it was crazy! Considering the sun’s still out but people screamed as if they were the headliners. The love and support that these guys get always amazes me.
As if the crowd wasn’t already awake and alive, they went wild when Autotelic played the first chords of their hit song “Gising“.
But of course, what’s a good party without a little heartbreak and a ray of hope? Ben & Ben did just that, and it was beautiful.
The teary eyed and hopeful Tamaraws then went wild as the country’s top DJs, Joyce Pring and co-Tamaraw MC Victor Pring took the stage and made everyone jump, which is apparently prohibited because of the quadrangle not being able to hold that much people, so the ground literally was shookt!
Our AfterParty ambassador Joyce Pring was on fire as well!
The DJ set was pretty short and the no excessive jumping rule was a bummer but the Tamaraws definitely got their party fix!
FEUCSO x AfterParty
It’s been a year Concierto Piyu changed their name to One Concierto Piyu with the intention to unite the neighboring FEU schools into one, and this year, AfterParty made it more fun!
The AfterParty app served as the Tamaraws’ ticket to the event and everyone enjoyed the convenience of just showing that they have joined the event on the app and voila, they would get in! Not to mention their chance to also win an iPhone X from AfterParty when the join the contest!
The headliners for the night, Hale and Parokya Ni Edgar took us back to early 2000’s as they sang their hit songs that we millenials grew up to!
The moment when Champ of Hale sang the first lines of “The Day You Said Goodnight” it was impossible to not sing along. It was a pure nostalgia and childhood feels trip.
Right before Parokya Ni Edgar started their set, it began to drizzle but the Tamaraws didn’t mind as they sang along with PNE’s Chito Miranda and laughing at his jokes in between songs. The band was supposed to play 5 songs but Chito said that it would be no fun if they ended it right away so they added more, even singing “Harana” melting the hearts of everyone.
One Concierto Piyu once again broke records and the official hashtag #OneConciertoPiyu even topped the Philippines Trending Topics on Twitter! It truly is a happy 90th birthday to Far Eastern University and the Tamaraws because these guys party like there’s no tomorrow! The sea of green and gold proved that night that local music in the Philippines is alive and well and will never die.
