After being sent to the hospital earlier this week, John Mayer is alive and well. The singer-songwriter had to postpone a few days from the tour with Dead & Company after an emergency appendectomy.

Four years after stumbling upon the Grateful Dead’s song “Althea” in 2011, Mayer invited the band’s guitarist Bob Weir to a studio performance while he was hosting The Late Late Show. The two developed a bond and that August, Mayer, and the original members of the Grateful Dead Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann formed Dead & Company. Phil Lesh, the original bassist for the Grateful Dead, declined to join and was replaced by Oteil Burbridge and additional keyboardist Jeff Chimenti.

Dead & Company originally announced only one concert date on Halloween 2015 at Madison Square Garden in New York. However, they opted for a full tour shortly after. This cycle repeated itself in 2016 when they were only supposed to perform at the Bonnaroo Music Festival but ended up announcing a full summer tour. Their current tour, Fall Tour 2017, consists of 15 shows in 14 cities. It was initially supposed to end on December 8, but it had to be cut short with Mayer’s hospitalization.

“still got it.”

On Tuesday, December 5, the band announced on Twitter that Mayer had been sent to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy.

Earlier this morning, December 7, Dead & Company returned to their social media accounts and announced that he “is recovering from the emergency appendectomy he underwent yesterday and is in good spirits.” along with some tour announcements.

And to prove that he really is in good spirits, Mayer even posted a mirror selfie on his Facebook with the caption “still got it.”

Wishing you a speedy recovery, John Mayer! And maybe a Manila tour date for Dead & Company while you’re at it.
