Our favorite modern day psychedelic duo MGMT are this close to releasing their fourth album. The band hinted their turn on Twitter with the caption #LittleDarkAge, an indication that the four-year wait may finally be over.
“YOU try singing about eels in falsetto for the 400th time.”
Multi-instrumentalists Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser formed MGMT while attending Wesleyan University. Their highly revered debut album “Oracular Spectacular” hit the shelves in 2007 and bagged them two Grammy nominations. A multitude of artists such as Beyonce, Frank Ocean, and Katy Perry either covered or sampled tracks like “Electric Feel,” “Time to Pretend,” and “Kids”. Throughout the album cycle, they supported big acts such as Radiohead, self-admitted fan Paul McCartney, and M.I.A. Let’s not forget their stint at Voodoo Experience 2010 when they dressed up as characters from Scooby Doo.
“Congratulations,” their sophomore album, revolves around their crazy, fast-paced life two years after their debut. It received generally positive reviews, with Gregory Heaney of AllMusic calling it better than its predecessor. Recording for the third album began around February of 2012 and finished up a year later. They released their self-titled third album in September 2013 with “Alien Days” and “Your Life Is a Lie” as singles.
“Little Dark Age”
Earlier in May, MGMT announced the title of their upcoming album “Little Dark Age” and played a couple of songs from the album. Live performances of three new tracks have been making their rounds on YouTube only this year, although fans began to look forward to a 2016 return after Tweeting a hopeful message during Christmas day.
Happy bday jesus . Merry holidays everyone. Happy birthday, everyone: 2016 is the year MGMT re-dominates your mind hole , see you then 💖

But they took it back nine months later.

Now they’re back with new Tweets to tease us with. A ten-second clip of new music and their different logos alongside lyrics to the title track posted on Friday the 13th has got music fans raving about the near return.
