What was first announced as a single turned out to be a 5-track EP. Thanks for the wonderful surprise, Kygo!
I will still be here, Stargazing
Tropical house DJ Kygo (aka my favorite), first hinted at the new EP on Instagram on his birthday. He writes “New music coming very soon.” Ten days later while on the Asian leg of Ultra Music Festival, Kygo posted the title and cover of what we thought was just a single and announced that it will be out on September 22. Come September 22, he posted that the full EP is finally out.
“Stargazing” featured the amazing vocals of Justin Jesso and Kygo’s piano tunes that produced a beautiful tropical vibe. Aside from “Stargazing,” the EP has also another new track that featured Sasha Sloane’s melodic voice. Both tracks are infused with Kygo’s style that makes his music unique and pleasant to hear. It reminded me of why I like listening to Kygo when I need to chill out and just focus on his music.
The music video for “Stargazing” has also been recently released and I’d be lying if I tell you that it didn’t make me tear up. It will allow you to ponder on the lyrics further while watching the video, which made it even more heartbreaking.
Kygo also included his recent collaborations with other artists: Selena Gomez for It Ain’t Me, Ellie Goulding for First Time, and band U2 for You’re the Best Thing About Me. In his previous studio album Cloud Nine, Kygo teamed up with other vocalists in the likes of John Legend, Parson James, Kodaline, Julia Michaels, and many others.
Aside from working with famed singers, Kygo has also worked with the best dj and music producers in the industry. When he released his single Firestone, it received a whopping 80 million views both on Youtube and Soundcloud, that Avicii and Chris Martin invited him to do a remix on the Coldplay song “Midnight.” They worked so well together that he also started supporting Avicii in various shows and festivals.
What do you guys think of Stargazing? If you’re not a Kygo fan (yet), then I guarantee that this is the EP that will definitely turn you into a fan!
