Just days after Sam Smith’s new song ‘Too Good at Goodbyes’ has been released, Filipino singer Rhap Salazar posted his first attempt of covering the song on Twitter. The cover immediately went viral that Sam Smith has also noticed and liked the tweet.

Too Good at Singing

Rhap has also posted his full cover of the song on Youtube a few days ago and has reached more than 200,00 views. He says he wasn’t expecting to get that massive reaction from the first short cover so he then decided to post a full-length video. Most of the comments mentioned how underrated he is in the Philippine music industry, given how good of a singer he is. If you actually listen to his cover and and not look at the video, you will definitely mistake him for Sam Smith.

Rhap has also previously covered other Sam Smith songs like “Lay Me Down” and “I’m Not The Only One” which also became viral. He even has a separate playlist on Youtube dedicated to these covers. I guess it’s really evident how big of an influence Sam Smith has been to Rhap’s style.

Aside from this “Too Good at Goodbye” version, Rhap also collaborated with Tawag ng Tanghalan contestant John Mark Saga and covered the same song. John Mark’s videos has also been viral online, specially on his appearance at the singing competition.

Emotional Music Video

The official music video for Too Good at Goodbyes was released yesterday and was complete with all the feels that you will get from the song. The music video is directed by Luke Monaghan and produced by Mikey Levelle and Tom‎ Birmingham.

Like other Sam Smith’s songs, this particular video was very emotional and complemented the smooth vocals and silky instrumentals. He also debuted his new leaner look in the video along with several couples that seemed to be facing problems.

Humble Roots

Rhap Salazar first started as a contestant on the singing competition Little Big Star and has emerged as the winner of the season in his category. He then moved to the international stage when he won two major awards at the 13th World Championship of the Performing Arts Junior category.

Aside from singing, Rhap also dabbles in acting with a few TV shows under his belt. Rhap also has posted numerous cover videos on Youtube, with close to 50,000 subscribers.
