Details of the annual St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival Singapore have been revealed! It’s time to quit the everyday Starbucks run and save up because this is one international festival you don’t want to miss out on.
Laneway will bring the festival to the city-state of Singapore on January 27, 2018 at The Meadows, Gardens by the Bay. Now on their eight year, Laneway Singapore is catering to everyone’s music taste from celebrated artists to those on the rise. We’ve got Mac “Big Daddy” DeMarco (whose latest album “This Old Dog” made it on our list of our favorite 2017 albums), Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Bonobo, Father John Misty, The Internet, The War on Drugs, Wolf Alice, and the compelling return of dream pop five-piece band Slowdive! Next year’s festival will also see Billie Eilish, Laneway’s youngest addition at only 16 years old, English hip-hop prodigy Loyle Carner, overnight sensation Amy Shark, contemporary gothic folk queen Aldous Harding, the cherubic Moses Sumney, Australia’s breakthrough band Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, and electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso.
Representing the East
Singapore’s bill might not include some of the artists on the Australia and New Zealand lineup but they made sure not to cut us short. In line with Laneway’s ceaseless mission to bring us the best and the brightest, they scoured East Asia for homegrown talent you should be paying attention to. Philippine indie folk band The Ransom Collective, Indonesian melodious alt rock group HEALS, and Malaysia’s electronic music wunderkind alextbh will fly in to play alongside some of Singapore’s finest—emcee MAS1A, rapper/producer THELIONCITYBOY, fuzz pop quintent Obedient Wives Club, innovative hip-hop and R&B vocalist Tim De Cotta, and the comeback of lauded post-rock band Amateur Takes Control after a three-year hiatus.
