Events in Manila: Phoenix on Tour 2017
July 27, 2017 UDOU TEAM
Take a sip of fior di latte as French band Phoenix is coming back to Manila for the second time around!
It was 2014 when Phoenix played their first show in the Philippines at The World Trade Center in Pasay, and of course, they received a warm welcome from their Filipino fans. What other way to give love than a sold out show!
This August 15, Karpos Multimedia Inc., the same production that has also been bringing us Wanderland Music Festival for five years now, is set to present Phoenix On Tour that will happen at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Phoenix fans are surely delighted when the band finally announced their sixth studio album, Ti Amo, and then dropped a new single, ‘J-Boy,’ three days later.
‘J-Boy’ (short for Just Because of You), a song set against a dystopian, science fiction backdrop as explained by frontman Thomas Mars, would surely catch your attention as a barrage of electro would come at you. Then at the 10-second mark, the familiar Phoenix sound and synths can be heard and yep, you tell yourself that they are really back.
Ti Amo as a whole still retains Phoenix signature glossy indie pop that would make you feel giddy all over. ‘Tuttifruti,’ a personal favorite of mine, would surely brighten up your mood the moment you hear it. It reminds of early Passion Pit and some of Daft Punk with its bass line.
Sweeter the Second Time Around
If you’ve missed Phoenix‘ show last 2014, or you haven’t heard of them yet that time, now’s your chance to get to watch Thomas Mars, Laurent Brancowitz, Deck D’arcy, and Christian Mazzalai live!
