“As You Were”

Scheduled for release this October, Liam’s debut solo album “As You Were” derives from the sign-off he uses for his Tweets. The track listing was revealed by Liam earlier this year along with a “special box set” that includes a colorized vinyl record and an “exclusive seven-inch, hardback book and an art print by Klaus Voormann” (the man behind the Beatles’ Revolver). He launched his first ever solo United States and Canada tour to support this album cycle. “Wall of Glass” and “Chinatown” have been released as singles so far and we are absolutely digging his sound.

A Quick History

Liam Gallagher formed Oasis (then known as the Rain) with Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan, Tony McCaroll, and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs. Once the older Noel Gallagher joined in, they began performing numerous originals live. They were signed in 1993 and since then has released seven studio albums. Tracks such as Supersonic, Champagne Supernova, and Wonderwall have turned into Britpop classics of the 1990s.

A Field Day for the Press

Quickly shot to the top, the erratic behavior of the Gallagher brothers began to garner media attention. Their hotel room antics added tension between the brothers; Liam and Noel’s violent banters were resulting into cancelled shows. After an altercation backstage on August 2009, Noel decided to quit the band for good. Oasis continued on, however, under the name of Beady Eye until they disbanded in 2014.

The Brothers Now

No one can say how the relationship of the brothers stand today. First they’re greeting each other happy birthday…

…then next thing you know, they’re insulting each other.

“Rkid” is, of course, Noel and is referred to his absence at the One Love Manchester benefit concert. Noel has been quite busy, releasing two albums with his very own Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Liam didn’t take his absence very well, obviously.

A Reunion?

Oasis fans (including myself) have been dreading for a reunion show. Hopefully the next time a Gallagher brother comes around, they’ll bring the rest of the lineup with them too. The possibility of that happening seems impossible, but we choose to live our lives with hope.
