Here’s another community that needs your attention!

Now that we’ve gathered so much support for our local DJs, bands, singers, music producers and such, we want to give a bit of the attention to the dance community.

Our AfterParty Ambassador, Meek, definitely has more to say about this being part of the dance community herself. (Check out her latest dance film project over here.)

Taking Over The World Stage

The dance community have done so much efforts over the years to be able to represent the Philippines in the world stage. We actually have gotten quite the reputation for Filipino dancers.

I’m sure you all remember the Philippine All Stars:

The Philippine All Stars  dominated one of the most prestigious dance competition all over the world – World HipHop Dance Championship, in 2006 and bagging another championship in 2008. The first Asian dance crew to do so.

Hailing from Manila’s underground hiphop scene, they have witnessed how dancers are being considered second-rate performers. Their journey has definitely elevated the status of Filipino dancers and now we have over a hundred dancers competing for world championships.

“There are so many dancers who are way beyond our technique and skills, but All Stars believe in what we can do and who we are as Filipinos. We embrace that”, says Lema Diaz in her TED talk recalling how and why they win Championships

Defending The Title

Years after, still, numerous dance crews have come to the World Stage and compete for the title. This year we are about to defend it.
