Get Through Mondays With These Song Suggestions!
June 5, 2017 AFTERPARTY TEAM
Mondays are mostly everyone’s least favorite day. Hopefully, music can help cheer you up and get that motivation to work or study going.
Power – Kanye West
No one man should have all that power
The clock’s ticking, I just count the hours
Stop tripping, I’m tripping off the powder
Kanye West’s “Power” is one of my favorite hype up songs. You can crank the volume up and play the song before an event, before you go out to bars, and definitely on the commute to work on a Monday.
Just a sidenote though: don’t dwell too much on the lyrics. Kanye already did say that he invested over 5000 hours to “Power” to “create against the past.” Just enjoy the beat and power through your Monday.
That’s What I Like – Bruno Mars
Sex by the fire at night
Silk sheets and diamonds all white
Lucky for you, that’s what I like, that’s what I like
The funky upbeat song from Bruno Mars will sure get your mood up. “That’s What I Like” is one of the most liked songs from his new 24K Magic album. Personally, I prefer this one over the title track simply because it feels better to listen to.
We all love Bruno Mars over here at U Do U, you might have noticed. *wink*
Also, the lyrics can motivate you to work hard and hustle more. Do you want to give your lady silk sheets and diamonds? Do you want to get a condo in Manhattan? (or at least just the Manhattan towers in Cubao) Then, you have to hustle.
Hard Times – Paramore
Hard times, gonna make you wonder why you even try
Hard times, gonna take you down and laugh when you cry
These lives, and I still don’t know how I even survive
Paramore fans were surprised when Hayley Williams and the band released this new track. With most rock and punk bands from several years ago slowly changing to pop today (looking at you Maroon 5), it’s nice to see Paramore still playing with their own signature sounds.
“Hard Times” does have an 80’s vibe and feel to it but you can still clearly hear the band’s own sound. I also like how the upbeat groove contrasts with the somehow depressing lyrics of the song. Hey, that’s perfect for a Monday!
BDYTLK – Jensen and the Flips
Our heart beats racing
take my hand we’ll double the fun
Let that body talk
Mondays don’t always have to be dreadful. Sure, Monday morning might suck but evenings can be good. There aren’t a lot of date nights during Mondays which is good for those who want to avoid crowds.
BDYTLK is the opening song for Philippines’ Next Top Model, so make sure to strut your stuff while you listen to it!
Jensen and the Flips’s “BDYTLK” is perfect for a Monday night out. If you have that special someone or if you simply want to fool around, the song is good.
My Boo – Hitman’s Club Mix
At night, I think of you
I want, to be your lady, maybe
If your game is on give me a call boo
If your lovin’s strong, gonna give my all to you
There was a brief moment in 2016 when the so-called Running Man challenge went viral. “My Boo” is actually the song behind that.
It has a funky beat and the chorus might be familiar to most because of the viral videos way back. It’s good for a Monday commute song as well both for going to work or coming home.
Mondays are hard but we’ll get through it friend. Do you have suggestions for a Monday song as well?
