The Gig Circuit tour made its third stop at Route 196 last week, March 24, and it was one hot show Stages Sessions cooked up for all of us.

Literally.

Despite the problems with the air-conditioning, our favorite gig venue in Katipunan was packed — even before The Sun Manager opened the night with their soulful set.

The diverse yet incredible lineup included trip-hop/soul act, Yolanda Moon, pop/alternative rock band, Over October, and garage rock band, She’s Only Sixteen, who played their new songs.

The Ransom Collective also joined the night as a surprise addition from Stages, playing their classic indie-folk music and announcing the launch of their debut album coming out on May 20th.

Of course, Stages Sessions would not throw a gig without talents of their very own.

Our country-folk singer-songwriter gal, Keiko Necesario, celebrated her birthday by gracing the stage of Route with amazing vocals and sincere melodies. She even expressed how she felt about working on her birthday by saying how she didn’t feel like working at all.

And to wrap up the night — or rather, rap it up — rapper and spoken-word artist, Curtismith, performed a mixture of numbers from both his classic For The Love and the freshly-released Soully Yours. (Watch out for the music video for West coming out in April!)

Here’s a quick trivia!

When we asked Curtismith about how much he knows about the hiphop scene in the Philippines during an interview (see video below), he admitted that he didn’t know very much.

“I think hiphop in the Philippines is very competitive. There are a lot of positive aspects but there is a lot of criticism as well, especially artists like me who are trying to venture into the unknown in trying to make their own lane. There’s a lot of criticism with the genre you’re trying to represent. A lot of people aren’t aligned with your vision or vibe; that’s where the conflict arises. Hopefully it changes.”

Catch Keiko and Curtismith take The Gig Circuit stage once again this Thursday, along with other exciting musical acts, as the concert tour makes a stop at Unit 27 in BGC! For the complete lineup, see the poster below:
