One of the country’s frontrunners in the summer musical festival scene is coming back for the third time in May!
The Summer Siren Festival is taking us to The Subic Bay Waterfront this year for their biggest hit yet, happening from May 12 to 14.
Packaged as a destination where beach, play and party all come together, the event will include several daytime workshops and activities; from jet-skiing to parasailing to bouncing on 3,400 square meters of the biggest floating playground in Asia, as well as pool parties and other sweet surprises from the event sponsors.
Of course, being known for celebrating the Philippine shores with our very own world-class talents, the festival gives us a first look of what’s already an exciting lineup that counts only the biggest names in music including Up Dharma Down, Marc Marisigan, Ace Ramos, Sud, Travis Monsod, Gab & John, and many more to be announced as we count down the days to the ultimate concert by the sea and under the stars!
It’s going to be one giant party of multi-everything, from venues to the genres of music, so here’s a few tips to consider before the event, from an avid festival goer myself to you.
1. Pack your sunblock!
A festival under the sun sounds like an exciting idea, but it does have its drawbacks. Make sure you pack the right summer essentials in your bag to give you the best protection from the sun, from sunblocks to sunglasses to water and extra clothes (and also, other ways to protect yourself).
2. Get ready to dress down
Speaking of clothing, you’re going to be dancing and sweating in the sunshine for hours, so forget the layers and dress down in light and comfortable pieces. It’s going to be difficult to enjoy the show or talk to the cute guy/girl on the beach dripping in hot sweat!
3. Keep an eye on your friends and your personal valuables
It’s at least a 2-hour drive back to Manila — you don’t want to go back to Subic for an ID you left at the bar.
4. Have as much fun as you want but don’t forget to be responsible for yourself.
The reason why we go to events like this is to enjoy the music and have fun creating memories — not to cause a scene that may affect the experience of others or the event itself. As much as possible, try to not make any reckless decisions during the event or be reliant on other people to take care of ourselves. Let us be respectful to other festival goers, the staff, performers, and anybody on the beach… Including the dogs. Especially the dogs!
